Surfing the Tsunami (Part 2)
Well, I’m still blown away by how God is moving in our church. The number of people pouring through the doors of our church, making first time decisions or reengaging in a relationship with Christ, growing in their relationship with Christ, and lives, marriages, and families being restored is absolutely amazing. While it is a very exciting thing it is also a little bit a little scary and very humbling at the same time. When God chooses to bless in this way there is a lot of weight and responsibility that comes with it.
As leaders we have to make sure that we’re being good shepherds and stewards of the people/souls that God is entrusting to us. We have to be so in tune to God that we have hearts that know Him intimately and ears that hear His softest whisper, in order to lead where He is leading and do what He is calling us to do. Many of you know that I have been fasting and praying in order to know what steps God wants us to take in order to handle all that He is doing here at Eagle Pointe. As it relates to our weekend worship services we will soon run out of seats in our two services. We are running out of parking. We’re running out of classroom space for our children’s ministry. While on one hand, these are all great problems to have and 90+ % of all the churches in the U.S. would kill to have these problems – they are problems nonetheless.
A lot of people think that when a church is doing well and growing that they don’t have problems – that definitely is not true. When a church is doing well and growing they just have different sets of problems – and more of them. While there are many, many issues relating to our church that I’m fasting and praying about and will continue to do so (see part 1) – God has been very gracious in beginning to give me clarity and insight into some of them.
One big pressing need that we have right now is – more seats. While we will continue working on our new entrance and lobby (we had a few setbacks – but we’re back up and running now) – the reality is that we do not have the money right now to expand our worship center. And even if we had the money and could start construction tomorrow, we would not have this done in time before we are completely out of seats. So, we’re going to need to add a third service time. This is a whole lot easier said than done. We’re going to need more people on host team, children’s check in, children’s ministry, worship team, tech team, etc. And we’re going to need these folks very quickly. However, as I like to say – “What God plans – God resources!” This is something that God has planned – and this is something that God will provide for.
To this end please join me in praying for God to move in a great way with this third service. Pray about how God might lead you to step up and help with this. Also, you can help us by praying about and giving us your input as to when this third service should be. Here is a link to a survey with potential 3rd service times EPC – Possible 3rd Service Times. Please take 10 seconds and give me your input on this. Thanks in advance for your prayers & input. Stay tuned – next week I will be sharing more about all of this.
