And Away We Go to Haiti!
After an incredibly busy week talking with people on the ground in Haiti, air freight companies, Medi-flight groups, etc – WE ARE ON OUR WAY TO HAITI!!! Myself & another pastor friend of mine, Ken Joslin of Life Church in Gainesville, GA, as well as another young pastor, will be taking a bunch of food & medical supplies. We’ll will be leaving Fulton County airport on a Medi-flight to Ft. Laud. Then catching a Spirit Air Flight from Ft. Laud to Santiago, Dominican Republic. Then driving the supplies into Haiti from there.
Due to not enough supplies making it into Haiti, and a lot of the supplies that do make it to the airport, not leaving the airport – we are going in the back door. This will be a much more challenging approach – but the front door to get relief to the Haitian people is not working. We’ll be traveling some rough roads going in – but hey – the challenges we face will be absolutely nothing compared to what the Haitian people are enduring.
I ask that you please pray for us constantly as we travel. Pray for safety, for vehicles to work well, for obstacles & delays to be removed, & for God to get us where He wants us in order to help as many people as possible. The plan now is to work at 2 orphanages & a hospital there. This may sound strange but – I also ask that you pray for our hearts & minds. I’ve warned the guys I’m traveling with to brace themselves. We’re going to have nightmares, because of what we’ve seen on this trip, for a while after returning.
Pray for the Haitian people. Pray for the relief workers on the ground. Pray for OUR U.S. government to not care what other countries around the world think – & to open up the doors & allow more workers & supplies to make it into Haiti. When there are millions suffering, starving, & dying – who cares if other countries do not want the U.S. to be a dominant presence there.
Also, we will be scheduling future trips very soon. We are talking with people now about trying to put together another trip (possibly the end of February). So, get your passport up to date!
That’s all for now – I’ve got to go & get ready to leave Monday AM.
